Reducing Dust Produced From Paper Cutting

The elimination of dust is a major requirement in the print and paper industries where expensive spoilage can quickly occur with the latest generation of high speed printing machines.

The industry now demands top quality dust-free paper, and the elimination of fine material residue that has been traditionally created during guillotining and slitting processes. Although vacuum extraction systems are used, even these are not always able to achieve the high standards of cleanliness now required.

Our super-finished blades give an extra degree of cutting edge sharpness, which considerably reduce the problems of duct generation. They utilise the latest technological developments to manufacture top slitters blades from unique powder metallurgy steels incorporating fine grain compositions.

Bottom slitter bands are produced from Tungsten Carbide giving considerably increased properties of wear and toughness over conventional materials. Both the front face and the cutting angle on top slitters are subject to innovative grinding and polishing techniques to achieve polished mirror finishes. These resultant super blades have the equivalent of razor blade sharpness. By polishing the secondary angles, backside cuts are as good as the front at the point of slit, even further reducing the incidence of dust.

Advice on training can be supplied for machine settings and slitter cutting geometry. This is to achieve the optimum conditions where it has been established that settings, and the surface finish and cutting geometry considerably affect the quality of cut, overall blade wear and operating life.
